Anime Network adds The Boy Who Wanted To Be A Bear to the Online Player

Anime Network just announced the Online Player addition of The Boy Who Wanted To Be A Bear, animated (non-anime) feature.

Synopsis Via Anime Network:
When a mother bear's cub dies in the Artic wilderness, her mate tries to ease her grief by stealing a newborn human baby boy from a nearby village to replace it. The mother bear loves the baby and raises him as her own cub. Over time, the boy learns how to survive in the wilderness as a bear. However, the boy's parents despair over the loss of their child and desperately search for him. The father hunts for the bears and his child. When he finds his son and brings him back, the little boy must choose to become a human again or remain a bear alone.

(Side note:)
It's a Danish feature (Drengen der ville gøre det umulige), done by Les Armateurs who also did the Oscar Nominated Les triplettes de Belleville (The Triplets of Belleville).
The film also features veteran Anime voice talents Dan Green (Yu-Gi-Oh) and Veronica Taylor (Pokemon, Kare Kano, World of Narue).

The Boy Who Wanted To Be A Bear DVD was released in 2005 by Central Park Media. Earlier in the spring, the company filed for bankruptcy and as part of a distribution and acquisition deal with ADV Films: Now and Then Here and There, Grave of the Fireflies, World of Narue and MD Geist were reissued for DVD release. World of Narue is another previous Central Park Media title recently being announced for distribution for Anime Network VOD and Online Player for the Fall 2009 season.
